Abstract

A novel complex adsorption flocculant made from aluminum flocculant by adding powdered activated carbon as adsorbent, rare earth compound as coagulant, was prepared for dye stuff wastewater treatment. Factors such as activated carbon and rare earth mass proportion, p H value, settling time, which were exerting influence on decoloration and coagulation, were investigated, and the mechanism of complex adsorption flocculant was studied. Results showed that a complex adsorption flocculant, aluminum salts wrapping activated carbon and rare earth element, had a good effective treatment for printing and dyeing wastewater, and under the conditions of p H 6~10,dosing 3% and settling for 30 min,the chroma and turbidity removal rate were more than 95%,and chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal rate was close to 90%.
