Clinical Analysis of 22 Children with Tracheal Foreign Body

Abstract

Objective: To explore proper operative methods for removal of airway foreign bodies in children and prevention methods. Methods: 22 cases of airway foreign bodies from Jan 1994 to Jan 2004 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: 20 of the 22 airway foreign bodies were removed through tracheobronchoscopy. One was removed through direct laryngoscope without anesthetic, one case hawk up foreign body in bronchus. Conclusion: Definite diagnose and right disposal to foreign body in bronchus is the key of success. It is also important to avoid children occurring airway foreign bodies.
