Abstract
Objective To investigate the nurses′ motivation,expectation,and approach for continuing education as well as the related influencing factors.Methods From October to November 2009,a total of 176 nurses from the hospitals affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine were randomly selected.They were investigated by the self-designed questionnaire referencing the old content of nursing continuing education,including their basic information,motivation,expectation,approach and influencing factors of continuing education.Results The academic education was the main form of nursing continuing education.With age,the family and work increasingly impacted the nursing continuing education.The motivation differed significantly in nurses with different professional titles and academic titles.Furthermore,they expected for academic education,specialist training and clinical skills,etc.Conclusion The common problems existed in the nursing continuing education.The targeted and diversified continuing education should be carried out,and the approach should be improved.Moreover,establishing the reasonable incentive mechanism is beneficial to promote their enthusiasm for attending continuing education.
