Abstract
Objective This surveillance was conducted to understand the contamination status of some commercial foods by listeria monocytogenes and their resistance to drugs. Methods Surveillance was done on six categories of commercial foods such as raw meat, cooked meat products, raw milk, ice cream, aquatic products and vegetables that can be eaten raw. Results Fourteen strains of listeria monocytogenes were isolated from 410 food samples of the 6 categories with a positive rate of 3.4%. And a higher rate of contamination of the bacteria was found in raw meat and aquatic products, being 6.5% and 3.3% respectively. It was found that the MPN value reached 270 cfu /100g in one or two raw meat samples. Drug sensitivity showed that 57.1% of the 14 strains of listeria monocytogenes were resistant to one antibiotic, 35.7% to two antibiotics and 21.4% to three antibiotics. Conclusion Surveillance and forecast should be reinforced. And it is suggested that comprehensive management from stockbreeding to dinning table be taken by the sectors concerned to prevent food borne diseases occurring. And the management of antibiotic use and surveillance of drug resistance are to be well done.
