OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical features of type 2diabetes patients complicated with urinary tract infections in the hospital so as to provide theoretical direction for prevention of diabetes complicated with urinary tract infections.METHODS A retrospective study was conducted for the clinical data collected from 196type 2 diabetes patients complicated with urinary tract infections who were treated in the hospital from Sep 2009to Aug 2012,then the statistical analysis was performed with the use of SPSS17.0software.RESULTS Among the 196 cases of type 2diabetes patients complicated with urinary tract infections,the female patients accounted for 82.7%,significantly higher than 17.3% of the male patients(P0.05);the patients aged between 40and 60 years old accounted for 33.7%,the patients aged more than 60years old accounted for 66.3%.All the 196cases of patients with type 2diabetes and urinary tract infections had symptoms like fever,frequent micturition,urgent urination and odynuria,in which 61cases had aymptomatic bacteremia,accounting for 31.1%,75cases(38.3%) with urinary retentron and 9cases with blood poisoning.A total of 86strains of Escherichia coli were detected, accounting for 43.9%;totally 33strains of extended-spectrumβ-lactamase(ESBL)-producing E.coli have been detected,accounted for 38.4%.CONCLUSION The female type 2diabetes patients are the major population at the risk of urinary tract infections,with the clinical manifestations atypical,the E.coli infection is dominant,and the proportion of the drug resistant strains is increased.It is necessary to understand the clinical characteristics of the type 2diabetes complicated with urinary tract infections so as to guide the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections.
