Self-locking intramedullary nails in treatment of humeral shaft fracture complicated with radial nerve injury

Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effects and a dvantages of self-locking intramed ullary nails in treatment of humeral shaft fracture incorporated with radial nerve inju ry.Methods A retrospective study was done on 8cases of humeral shaft fracture c omplicated with radial nerve injury which were treated with self-lockin g in-tramedullary nails.Results All cases achieved nice union.The fu nctional recovery of radial nerve wa s satisfac-tory.Conclusions Operative exploration should be don e early for humeral shaft fractures with radial nerve in-juries.Self-locking intramedulla ry nails provide better internal fix ation than traditional steel plates and screws,and at the same time facilitate fracture healing and recovery of injured radial nerve.[
