The Cultural Character of Chinese Garden Plant and the Preservation of Its Diversity

China is famous for the abundance of garden plant resources,so it was called Mother of Gardens by the Western.The garden plants in Chinese Garden don't only enrich the landscape of the Chinese Garden,but also have been introduced to other countries around the world.During the long history of cultivating and planting garden plants,the cultural meanings of garden plants have been formed.That is,personal characters are attributed to plants,so that a plant is not only a natural creature,but cultural.The cultural character of garden plants first emerged in literature,and then it defined the species and planting forms in Chinese Garden.Nowadays,the cultural character of Chinese Garden plants is neglected gradually.and emphasizes tokeep plant diversity in cument time.This paper focuses on cultural character of Chinese Garden plants.
