Abstract

Nietzsche's The Birth of Tragedy is based on “the metaphysics of art”, which offers a metaphysical meaning to the meaningless world and human life and provides an aesthetic defense for the world and human life. The Greek examples have revealed such a fact that art plays a great role in saving life. The Greek tragedy reveals “die dionysische Weltanschauung”, which enlightens us to view the will of the world from the aesthetic perspective and to regard it as an artist of the cosmos while enjoying the everlasting happiness of creation. To have a positive attitude towards life, we must regard art more valuable than truth.
