Abstract

Objective To understand the understand the ultrastructural changes of blood cells irradiated by different doses of 60 Co,including red blood cells, leukocyte(neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes and monocytes)and platelet.Method Using transmission electron microscopy to observe the blood cells morphology.Result After irradiation, some neutrophils and lymphocytes showed ultrastructure changes of abnormal cellular structure and apoptosis, accounting for 7%~24% of total nucleated cells. The percentages of abnormal cells and apoptosis incereased with incerasing irradiation doses. No abnormalities were observed in basophils, eosinophils, monocytes, platelets, and red blood cells. Conclusion 15~35Gy 60 Co irradiation influenced the ultrastructure of neutrophils and lymphocyte, but the other cells were not influenced.
