Abstract

GAO Jiong,a famous prime minister of Sui dynasty,was both a good commander of the armed troops and a wise prime minister of the government. He knows his subordinates well enough to assign them jobs commensurate with abilities, and assisted Emperor Wen of Sui dynasty for nearly twenty years. He rendered outstanding service in founding and developing Sui dynasty and unifying the country. He was out of favor of Empress Dugu, and was deposed because his merits and prestige worried the Emperor.When YANG Guang,Emperor Yang of Sui came to power, he was put to death.
