Abstract

In Analects of Confucius-Tai Bo, Confucius regarded Yao as great.The word (great) is an aesthetic category as well as an ethical concept.The expectancy of art and life, which manifests the harmonic union of ethical connotation and aesthetic happiness, is the core subject of Confucius thought. After grasping and confirming the essential problem of Confucius thought, this essay contends: according to Confucius, the life of Yao unified historically his great virtue and aesthetic scene which is sublime, vast and bright.
