Abstract

The caustic stress corrosion cracking (caustic SCC) of Fe-Cr-Ni alloys such as alloy 800 used for steam generator tubes of the nuclear power plant is introduced. The effects of materials' composition, heat treatment, stress, cold working, environmental and electrochemical factors on caustic SCC of Fe-Cr-Ni alloys are summarized. Some electrochemical methods for predicting the sensitive potentials of caustic SCC are described.
