Abstract
Objective To understand the multidrug resistant(MDR)and epidemiological characteristics of 153 Salmonella strains isolated in Beijing. Methods A total of 153 isolates recovered from the WHO Global Salmonella Surveillance system and enteroclinic Surveillance system were identified by biochemical tests and serotyping,Antimicrobial resistance was tested using the Kirby-Bauer method. Results Sixty-one out of the 153 Salmonella strains were multidrug resistant(39.87%),Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium were the main multidrug resistant serotypes.Thirty-four strains(55.74%)were resisted to four or five antibiotics, the main resistance pattern was resistant to five antibioticsiinclusing ampicillin, streptomycin, sulphafurazole, nalidixic acid, tetracyclin, accounting for 27.87%(17 / 61).The ratio of male to female of the 61 multidrug resistance strains was 1.54:1 and mainly distributed in the age group of under years(24.59%)and the age group of 21-30 years old(accounting for 27.87%).Conclusion It shows that the multidrug resistant patterns of Salmonella are diverse and the drug resistanct population are diverse and drug-resistant populations tend occurring to the young age group. Thus reasonable selection of antibiotics for clinical purpose is indicated.
