Abstract

Fractal theory is an important branch of modern nonlinear science and is an important mathematical tool and method in scientific research. The theoretical principle of fractal theory is fractal geometry. This paper mainly presents the origin, development, application area and status of fractal theory, the future of the fractal research .The fractal dimension of .classical fractal pictures like Koch curve and Sierpinski gasket are also given in this paper.
