Abstract

Rule for Performance Based Seismic Design of Buildings(it is called for General Rule),a probationary standard is very important for directing modification of the current seismic code of buildings.Because the earthquake action is acknowledged as a primary problem to seismic design, attention is paid on the difference of calculation of earthquake action between the General Rule and the Seismic Code.In this paper, site dependent desigh spectra between the General Ruls and the Seismic Code are compared with graphs and tables. After this, the way of calculating earthquake action is analyzed. The difference of earthquake action between the two standards is indicated by two samples. The results are likely useful and to be as reference to revising and perfecting the General Rule and the next seismic code.
