Abstract

The influences of carbon content, quenching temperature, cooling rate and tempering temperature on the microstructure and hardness of carbon steel were discussed. The results show that the hardness of T8 steel after heat treatment is highest, the hardness of 45 steel as-quenched decreases under over-temperature and extra-low-temperature,the quenching temperature of 45 carbon steel is best at 850~860 ℃,the hardness of carbon steel increases with the increase of cooling rate and the decrease of tempering temperature.
