Abstract

Objective To observe the inhibitory effect of Chitosan on corneal neovascularization after corneal alkaliburn. Methods Corneal alkali-burn model of rabbits was made by burning right eyes with NaOH and divided into two groups in random,Cautery group(cautery) and Chitosan group(cautery and put drops in the eyes with 2% chitosan).CNV of the two groups were observed,PMNs were counted and the contents of VEGF were measured at the 1st,4th,7th,14th day. Results Compared with the Cautery groups the growth of CNV was slowly, the counts of PMN and the expressions of VEGF were both decreased significantly. Conclusion The Chitosan can inhibits the CNV after corneal alkali burn.
