Abstract
Objective To compare the curative effects of unilateral and bilateral internal fixation in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation after intervertebral fusion in order to provide clinical reference. Methods Sixty patients with lumbar disc herniation treated in our hospital from June 2009 to June 2012 were given the intervertebral infusion treatment. All the patients were divided into two groups; The control group received bilateral internal fixation and the observation group received unilateral internal fixation. The operative time, length of hospital stay and intraoperative blood loss of the two groups were compared. After one month to one year of postoperative follow-up,the changes of the degree of pain of the two groups after the treatment were compared. Results Compared to the control group, the observation group had shorter operative time, shorter hospital stay and less intraoperative blood loss, with statistically significant differences (P 0.05).After one year of postoperative follow-up,the VAS scores of both groups significantly reduced compared to those before the operation, with statistically significant differences (P 0.05),but the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups (P 0.05).Conclusion Intervertebral infusion combined with pedicle screw fixation is significantly effective in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation,of which unilateral internal fixation is easily operative and less traumatic, thereby worthy of promotion and application.
