Abstract
Microwave sintering is a procedure for sintering ceramics, this procedure shows significant advantages such as reducing sintering time and consuming much lower energy against conventional sintering procedures. The characteristics of microwave sintering of ceramic materials and ceramic matrix composites are introduced, and then microwave sintering and conventional sintering are compared in precursor pyrolysis and powder sintering of ceramic fabrication. The result shows that microwave sintering is an attractive potential technology. In the end, some fields in microwave sintering needing further investigation are pointed out.
