The nature analysis of high myopia

Abstract

Objective To explore the nature of high myopia and its significant of classification.Methods ①259 cases with over -6.00 D myopia were observed and analyzed. Among them, 50 cases came from epidemiological investigation; other 209 cases came from clinical patients. ②Examinations include far and near visual acuity test, eye refractive status (according to retinoscopy, ≤12 years old children with 1% atropine cycloplegia), eye fundus, corneal curvature and eye axial length.Results Incidence of high myopia was about 1.5%. There’s no significant difference of corneal curvature between high and lower myopia. Anteriol-postrior axial of eye was elongated markedly, and was related with degree of refraction. In these 259 cases, 89 cases had other eye diseases or other systemic diseases. High myopia is composed of many types of myopia, such as primary degenerative myopia, secondary and complicated myopia.Conclusion High myopia is actually the mixture of various myopia. The classification whicn is made according to the degrees of myopic refraction was misled.
