Abstract
Open source network monitoring software,Nagios, can only analyse network monitoring data in real-time,it can not check the changes of network monitoring data and therefore can not monitor the dynamic changes of hosts and services in the network.Nagios can also not be directly applied to large-scale network environment. In order to solve above problems, this paper adds historical statistics function in the Linux platform by using the interfaces provided by open-source Nagios and RRDtool that has data storage and graphics generation function, and extends Nagios code so that it can use a distributed structure deployment to adapt to the large-scale network environment. The experiment of monitoring a number of hosts and the statistical network behavior is performed, the results show that it enables the dynamic monitoring of the hosts and services.
