Abstract
A variety of experiments were carried out on the new series of NEPE propellant, the effects of AP content and particle size on the propellants'combustion characteristics are studied systematically. In parallel with this experimental analysis,an interpretative mechanism for AP's effects is developed on the basis of condensed phase mechanism, dark zone theory and flame property in the combustion wave. The interaction between aluminum and AP is also considered. It is revealed that the increase of AP content and the use of graded AP can improve the combustion characteristics of NEPE propellants.
