Abstract
Objective To investigate clinical value of the serum procalcitonin(PCT) 、 C-reactive protein(CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) in diagnosis, treatment and condition assessment in the elder patients with pneumonia. Methods Make a comparison of serum PCT、CRP and ESR between 62 elder patients with pneumonia and 52 healthy counterparts. Results The serum PCT、CRP and ESR levels in elder patients with pneumonia group were higher than the control group,it presented significant difference(P0.05) .The diagnostic sensitivity of PCT、CRP and ESR was 90.3%,83.9% and 80.6% respectively. The specificity of PCT(98.4%) was higher than CRP and ESR(79.0% vs 74.2%) ,and it presented significant difference. Conclusions The serum PCT、CRP and ESR are very important in diagnosing the elder patients with pneumonia, especially the level of PCT is a important diagnostic index.
