Abstract
Based on the definition and classification of grammatical metaphor by Halliday and Matthiessen in 1999,nominalization includes several types in their model of classification of grammatical metaphor. These four types belong to the narrow-defined class-shift nominalization, beyond this nominalization should contain the rank-shift nominalization.According to prototype theory, the relationship between nominalization and grammatical metaphor is pointed out:nominalization is the prototypical realization of grammatical metaphor.
