Abstract
The different row thinning methods in larch plantation and regeneration with Picea koraiensis on the cutting strips were studied in mountainous areas of East Liaoning. The results showed that the diversity of herb layer was obviously increased, and the water hold capacity of soil was increased by 4.4%~16.7% after row thinning in the pure larch plantations. The thinning-regeneration patterns had an obvious influence on the growth of young planted Picea koraiensis and larch trees respectively.Compared with the full light treatments, the average height, canopy, ground diameter and total biomass of young Picea koraiensis in pattern I,which was defined as two rows larch cutting and then one row Picea koraiensis planted, was decreased by 27.4%,12.7%,21.7%,and 4.1%,respectively,while in pattern Ⅱ(three rows larch cutting and then two rows Picea koraiensis planted) it was increased 3.6%,0.8%,4.3%,and 15.8% respectively.Meanwhile the growth of the Larch trees remained was improved, and the average DBH of the remained larch trees in pattern I and Pattern II was increased by 2.7%~8% and 4.6%~16.7% respectively two years after thinning compared with the control. But the differences in height were not obvious between the row thinning methods and the control.
