Effect of the reclamation project on the north branch of Yangtze River estuary

Since the 1950s,data has indicated that the north branch of Yangtze River estuary has changed enormously due to reclamation projects,whjch have caused the original natural balance to be broken,the plane configuration and flow condition to be changed,and the channel capacity to be decreased greatly.As a result,the reclamation projects hare also expedited the evolution of river bed,and aroused tidal bore and silting.The north branch became narrower and narrower after the 1990s.The research on the effect of the reclamation projects is of important value to the sustainable use of water and soil resources and economic development in the area.
