Abstract
The poems in late Tang Dynasty had gloomy tone, dull color, obscure mood and flowery language. Li Shang-yin was just the pioneer and culmination. Liu Zhao-xing from Qing Dynasty once said, Fan-chuan's poems are majestic and spirited; Li Fan-nan's are continuous with deep affection. Later Li has became a school while Du hasn't . Lishang-yin's characteristics reflected the features of his age. i.e., comprehensive, profound and typical. The most expressive poems reflect his age and his characteristics are his sentimental themes.
