Effects of psychological intervention on anxiety and depression in cancer patients

Abstract

Objective: To study the effects of psychological intervention on anxiety and depression in cancer patients.Methods:Eighty-four cases of cancer patients were randomly divided into control group(42 cases) and psychological intervention group(42 cases).The control group was treated with conventional chemotherapy,radiotherapy and support therapy,and the intervention group was treated with conventional therapy plus an integrated psychological intervention.SAS and SDS(A symptom checklist assessment forpatients with psychological symptoms) were used for statistical anaysis before and after treatment and t test was used for difference between the two groups.Results: SDS and SAS scores of psychological intervention group in the first 8 weeks were significantly lower than those of the control group(P0.05).Conclusion: Integrated psychological therapy can significantly reduce anxiety and depression in the patients with undergoing cancer therapy.
