Abstract
In aqueous sodium hydroxide, with benzene as the catalyst, cinnamaldehyde is synthesized from the reaction of benzaldehyde and acetaldehyde. The factors affecting the quality and recovery of cinnamaldehyde, such as the volume of alkali, its concentration, the temperature, the time and the molar ration, are analyzed, as well as the optimum conditions for synthesizing cinnamaldehyde, with 56.67% as its recovery.
