Abstract
In this paper, different kinds of optical methods used for three-dimensional (3-D) shape measurement of specular reflection objects are discussed. They can be classified into two groups: passive measurement methods and active measurement methods. The former includes the methods base on photometric and shape from specularity. The latter makes use of the structured light technique. Compared to those for diffuse reflection objects, the existing 3-D measurement techniques for specular objects are not ripe and fall behind the urgent need. This article provides beneficial references for research and development of 3-D measurement methods for specular reflection objects.
