Abstract

ObjectiveTo investigate the trend of tuberculosis report rate among students in Chaohu, and to provide the basic information for developing tuberculosis prevention and control measures.MethodsThe reported incidence of tuberculosis were analyzed from New TB Incidence Data Management Information System during 2005-2009 in Chaohu.ResultsThe reported incidence of active tuberculosis was 9.44/100 000 in 2005 and 12.33/100 000 in 2009.Reported incidence of smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis was 7.01/100 000 in 2005,and 9.13/100 000 in 2009.Average growth rate was 6.91% in active tuberculosis and 6.84% in smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis. The mean reported rate of tuberculosis was 10.27/100 000 during these five years, and most of the cases were male. The patients aged over 15 years accounted for 94.05% of all the cases. The reported rate decreased significantly during December to February, and increased obviously from March to April.ConclusionPublicity and education on TB prevention and control should be strengthened in the school.Health and education authorities should cooperate to standardize the referral and track patients.
