Abstract

Objective To assess the effects of ventricular hypertrophy on left ventricular systolic synchrony and systolic function by Tissue Doppler Imaging(TDI)technique. Methods 18 patients with hypertensive heart disease(HHD)and 16 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM)and 18 age-matched healthy subjects as control group were performed with pulsed TDI to record the ventricular septum and left ventricular lateral, anterior and inferior walls motion pattern in the left side atrial-ventricular annulus. The time dispersion of electromechanical motion in left ventricular systole, systolic velocity(Vs)at six sites in ventricular septum and left ventricular lateral wall were measured. Results The time dispersion of electromechanical motion in left ventricular systole in three groups were respectively(15.6±3.5)ms(control group)vs(24.2±2.7)ms(HHD)vs(28.2±15.2)ms(HCM),it significant increased in HCM group compared with control group(P0.001),Vs in left ventricular segments of HCM group were lower than that of control group(P0.05),and there was no significant difference between HHD and control group. Conclusion Impairment of systolic synchrony of left ventricular motion and systolic function exists in HCM group.
