Abstract
Photocatalytic degradation of DMSO in aqueous TiO2 suspensions was investigated. The effects of catalyst type, catalyst dose,pH and initial concentration on the degradation rate were studied to find the optimal degradation conditions.Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model was used to describe the photocatalytic degradation kinetic of DMSO,and the results showed that the photocatalytic degradation of DMSO met the first-order kinetic. The addition of persulphate,as an electron acceptor, had a positive contribution to the degradation rate of the system. It could increase the photocatalytic degradation rate and apparent quantum yield, appropriate concentration of persulfate might play a synergistic role in photocatalytic reduction.
