RESEARCH ON THE FOLK CUSTOM OF CHOOSING LUCKY DAYS FROM SUN BOOK ON BAMBOO SLIPS OF QIN DYNASTY

The period of Warring States (475 221 B.C.) was an important period for the formation of Chinese folk custom-choosing lucky days. According to the research on two volumes of Sun Book (Rishu) on bamboo slips of Qin dynasty, the article proposes that the folk custom of choosing lucky days was already popular in the period of Warring States and the theory of the custom was fairly complete and different schools of choosing lucky days appeared. Thus, it is concluded that the folk custom of choosing lucky days had already come into being in the period of Warring States. The custom of this period reflected the characteristic of the time and had profound influence on the development of later ages. Moreover, it also embodied the main characteristics of utility, and custom and skill at the same time, and the essence of reverence toward nature.
