Abstract
Based on the data from investigation in the Haizhou Bay, Lvsi, Shengsi and Zhoushan areas during May-July, 2006. We studied relationship of the marine environment with shellfish quality on heavy metals from three aspects, and environmental conditions affecting on the heavy mental change in shellfish; enrichment of different heavy metals in shellfish and enrichment of different species absorbing heavy metals. According to the result of our study, it is water heavy metals but not sediment heavy metal that affect the level of Cd, Hg and Pb in shellfish body. The level of Pb enrichment in shellfish body was clearly lower than the level of Cd whereat that of Hg was medium. Diffusion of Cd from water to shellfish body produced higher level of Cd enrichment in the shellfish body. Comparing the enrichment of heavy metals among different species, Mytilus edulis showed the most clearl enrichment whereas Rapana bezoa showed the least.
