Abstract

Social capital refers to the norms and networks that enable people to act collectively.It is exists among the people,can urge the people to participate in the collective activity,including norms the people observed and the relational network the people composed as well as the social system.The studies find that social capital can explain difference of economic development and project performance,which is not explained by tradition capital such as matter capital and manpower capital.Social capital can improve economic performance and project performance,and promote social sustainable development.At the same time,we find there is negative effect on development for social capital.The paper provides an overview of social capital background history,conception,the function in development of social capital,and implication for development plicy.It is meaningful for understanding and promoting economic growth and decreasing pressure of environment.
