Abstract
Cracking is a problem commonly seen in longspan prestressed concrete continuous box girder. With reference to the relevant provisions in the design specifications of several countries in the world, this paper presents the matters that should be considered and noticed in the design of longspan prestressed concrete continuous box girder with variable cross section and in the handling of structural layout in order to mitigate the cracking to the possible minimum, and also proposes two kinds of layout of vertical prestressing systems.
