Analysis and treatment of the bacterial infection in conjunctival sac after fixing artificial eye.

Objective To study the difference between the bacterium in infectious conjunctival sac of the artificial eyes and that in conjunctival sac of the normal eyes for the treatment scheme.Methods The bacterial cultures and antibiotic sensitivity assays were made from the secretion of conjunctival sac of the artificial eyes and normal eyes of the same patients,whose secretion increasing after being put on the artificial eyes.The sensitive antibiotic was selected and the therapy was determined by comparing the results of test with the bacterial florae in the conjunctival sac of normal eyes.Results 23 out of the 29 cases were infected by Gram positive bacterium,which Staphylococcus aureus is the chief one.Te infection rate of Staphylococcus aureus in the sick eyes is obviously higher than that in normal eyes.Conclusion The satisfactory results have been obtained by reducing the stimulation to the conjunctival sac.Molding and smoothing the artificial eyes sheet artificial eyes,combing with the antibiotic are an efficient therapy to those infectious patients.
