Abstract

Without considering surface covering layer,the surface earthquake dislocation and strain distribution near active fault were calculated under different conditions of magnitude,fault movement style and fault dip angle using 3-D finite element method.Based on above results,the safe distance of active fault to important project site was studied.The results show that the fault characteristics,fault movement style,earthquake magnitude,site location and the anti-earthquake defensive requirement of projects are all key factors to determine the safe distance of project site to active fault.
