Abstract
As a means of communication,GPRS has significant technical advantages compared to traditional means of communication.This paper analyzes the safety,reliability,instantaneousness,and networking modes of GPRS in power communication,and introduces practical examples of GPRS technology in grid distribution automation,load management and metering system,and remote monitoring,etc.,indicating that GPRS is a matured technology and satisfies all the communication requirements of modern electric systems.The prospects of GPRS are also discussed,and it is suggested that safety and communication protocols are keys to engineering implementations.
