Abstract

By means of the numerical simulation method, this paper studies the actual continuous casting of austenite and ferrite stainless steel and analyzes the track of non-metal inclusions which move with the molten steel in the continuous casting mold. Results of simulation demonstrate the main regions in the mold where inclusion particles accumulate. The results also show that the floating-up probability of inclusion particles in the mold is affected by many factors, such as the size of inclusion particles, the casting speed, the breadth of casting slabs and etc, among which the size of inclusion particles is the determining factor.
