Abstract
Human activities(including damming)would pose a profound environmental impact on the downstream delta area. This paper summarized the post-Aswan Dam sedimentological setting on the Nile delta, heavy metal contamination and its ecological effects in the delta lagoons.Meanwhile, some suggestions on research on heavy metals in the Yangtze delta were put forward considering the Three-Gorges Dam impoundment and its possible impact on the Yangtze estuarine.
