Abstract
Lighting in short tunnels is one of the prominent problems in energy-saving of current highway tunnels. In general the lighting systems are equipped in highway tunnels of more than 100m in length, however, two unreasonable phenomena,i.e.over-bright lighting and turnoff due to over-brightness will occur in practical operation. In accordance with operational situations of tunnel lighting and in combination with foreign standards, this paper proposes the concept, classification, configuration of facilities and computation methods for short tunnels, and presents standards for design of short tunnels.
