A Comparative Study on Rural Tourism Community Participation Mode-Taking Three Villages in Zhejiang Province as Examples

The effective and fair community participation is a key element of sustainable development of tourism. By comparatively analyzing,studying a large number of related literatures and inspecting lots of rural tourism destinations, from the perspective of community participation,this study sampled three rural tourism destinations in Zhejiang province to compare and analyze,and proposed three typical models,including the grassroots- organization- driven model, tourism enterprise- oriented model and independent community model. It also put forward the differences,characteristics and problems of the three models. The results of this study show that,three kinds of models have multi- participant,the contents of community participation are few,such as providing catering and accommodation services. The degree of community participation differs for the tourism area life cycle. Community benefit sources mainly come from the improvement of infrastructure,employment and training opportunities are offered. Through the discussion,community participation effectiveness and fairness have a vital link with life cycle of tourism destination and community capacity building.
