Abstract
Objective:To investigate the clinical significance of soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells(sTREM)-1 in patients with sepsis. Methods:Using prospective, randomly control study design,32 patients suffered from sepsis were collected and divided into survival group(n=21) and non-survival group(n=11) according to 28-day prognosis.Twenty-five health volunteers were controls.Clinical date, including routine blood test and C-reactive protein(CRP),were determined and APACHEⅡ score were recorded in 24 hours. The level of sTREM-1 was measured by enzyme linked immunoabsorbant assay(ELISA) and the differences were compared between groups. Results:The levels of sTREM-1,CRP,white blood cell(WBC) and neutrophil count percentage(N) were significantly higher in patients with sepsis than those of controls(P 0.05 or P 0.01).The plasma levels of sTREM-1 and APACHEⅡ score were significantly higher in non-survival group(n=11) than those of survival group(n=21,P 0.05 or P 0.01).There were no significant differences in CRP,WBC and neutrophil count percentage(N) and body temperature between non-survival group and survival group(P 0.05).The level of sTREM-1 showed obviously positive correlation with APACHEⅡ score in patient group(rs = 0.426,P = 0.032).Conclusion:Plasma level of sTREM-1 is an useful index for clinical monitoring in sepsis. The increased sTREM-1 was associated with the poor prognosis.
