Abstract

Based on the statistic data of China's 10 major megalopolises including 117 cities in 1998-2007,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of city size and employment structure to regional urban-industrial agglomeration economies and productivity. Results show: the location effect of urban agglomeration economy exists between megalopolises; The development of urban agglomeration economy has significant stage characteristics;Besides the incentive of technical progress, location endowment, industrial employment structure and city size also produce a significantly influence to urban total factor productivity; The urban agglomeration effect of Midwest region doesn't match their economic development level.
