Abstract
Objective To study the relationship between the brain regional 18F-FDG metabolism and visual stimulation process. Methods Choosing a 28 healthy volunteer sample, which was divided into two groups, and then cPET 18F-FDG imaging was performed, one group was tested with eye mask during the time of scanning, and the other group was done without eye mask, and the SPM was employed to analyze the results. Results It showed that 18F-FDG accumulation increase in the area like cuneus, inferior occipital gyrus, postcentral gyrus, precentral gyrus, superior temporal gyrus, while in the area like parahippocampal gyrus, cingulate gyrus, inferior semi-lunar lobule, tuber, and part of superior temporal gyrus, the 18F-FDG accumulation was decreased. Conclusion The SPM is a new functional image analyzed approach, the light stimulation to the eye can not only increase the 18F-FDG metabolism of the visual dominated area like cuneus and occipital gyrus, but also influence other areas, even can lead to metabolism decreasing in some brain areas.
