Abstract
Yunnan is a mountainous province, 94% of the total is mountainous area. The agricultural land with slope higher than 25° is 747 600hm 2. One essence of community forestry is the participation of local people, conversion of arable land to forest land also emphasized the participation of local people, which reflect the essence of community forestry. Local people are the crucial part of management and benefit of this policy. Sufficiently respect the willingness of villagers, clarify forest rights, promote stimulant policies, properly plan, consider the practical benefit of villagers, are the precondition of successful implementing of conversion of arable land to forest land. Twenty_one reforestation patterns are recommended for implementing conversion of arable land to forest land.
