Abstract

The paper,by using Input-Output Tables of China 2002 measures quantitatively the position and function of tourism industry to the development of national economy and puts forward corresponding policy suggestions.Study results are as follows:1.The push function of tourism industry is far larger than the pull function following the development of national economy.2.China's tourism industry exerts the largest pull capacity to transportation, hospitality industry and catering industry, but non-basic tourist consumption accounts for relatively low ratio,so China's tourist consumption still leaves more space for increase. 3.Tourism industry is a labor-intensive industry.Rural can transfer a great number of rural labor forces. This will play an important role in building harmonious society and promoting the construction of new socialist countryside.4.Domestic travel in China accounts for 80% of the development of tourism industry, while international travel only accounts for 20%,so stress should be laid on the development of domestic tourism.
