Abstract
Carbon nanotubes(MWNTs) were treated with diethylenetriamine(DETA)and the changes of surface characters of MWNTs were investigated by XRD and FTIR.FTIR traces indicated that DETA was wrapped on the surface of MWNTs.MWNTs/epoxy resin nanocomposites were prepared by cast-molding method. The mechanical properties and dispersion of the MWNTs in the composites are investigated. As a result, small content modified MWNTs can enhance the mechanical properties of nanocomposites evidently. When MWNTs content is 0.6%,the mechanical properties are the best. The results showed that the impact strength was increased up to about 400 %,compared pure resin. The bend strength and bend modulus improved up to more than 100%.
